This was shot with the wide angle (10-22mm) while sitting on the edge of one of the cliffs of Doe Mesa. The updrafts made it very windy (notice the camera strap) right at the edge...pretty cool.
It is my obligation to inform you when my photos are processed any further than the normal RAW "developing". In this case, the sun was just too bright, and I combined two different raw exposures (same images, just different raw settings) with a gradient over the sky.

It makes me want to hanglide off that cliff.

Superb view, very well captured. Also, great use of the tools at hand to combine photos to create this one. Well done.

nice one ryan. this is a great example of how "blown" highlights can really work for your photo. it emphasizes the bright desert sun perfectly. very cool shot!
BTW: i don't think you're obligated to tell us that this is two RAW shots.

Love the wide-angle, composition and colors. The foto is a bit overexposed though. Maybe a center-weighted, rather than evaluative metering option, would have worked best (since the 20D has no spot meter) - or maybe you did that but it was too bright anyway.

The rocks have a nice and warm glow.

WOW!!! You make this look too easy! That is one beautiful shot. No worries about the post processing either. NatGeo guys have been using all sorts of tricks for years. I sleep with a clean conscious at night.

I like this. Sort of has the same effect as if you'd used a graduated ND filter (I've been wanting to get one of those...)
So yeah, good composition, good rays, great color in the rocks and the sky... and good haze actually, it gives it depth.
Still waiting for my comment to appear... don't leave me hangin...
