This is the first of a set of two images that I shot of Castle Rock during my first trip to Sedona about a month ago. These are both high contrast/low saturation images. The sunlit red rock is very hard to process and make it come out anywhere close to what it actually looked like, so I decided to see what a some desaturation would look like...and you know me and desaturated, high contrast skys. I think the combination of the two (rock and sky) came out quite well. I am especially fond of the contrast in the sky.
These images may appear too contrasted or dark, but I intended to process them that way. I think this is one of those love/hate procesing styles. Maybe I'll like it less as I look at it more, but I quite like this shot.
Also, I want to wish my brother, Brent, a happy 16th birthday!

Amazing, Ryan. I really like this one. I agree that it may be a touch too dark, but the mood and balance are pretty darn nice. :)

The shadows make this very interesting. I like the color and contrast of the sky, too.
