So after I decided upon this photo for the next post, I realized that I had reverted back to my good old abstract/macro roots. Well, yesterday's was a landscape, so today's should be different. ;)
I was planning to wait and try some more shots like this to perfect (at least to some minimal extent) this type of shot. I decided that if I ever take another better photo like this, I can just post it when the time comes.
This was actually taken at the groundbreaking ceremony for our church/bible college, which is building. I was asked by someone to take some photos in addition to the ones by the official photographer, who, I believe was shooting flim.
The lighting perplexed me about this particular day. It was mid-day, but I underexposed most of my photos (of the event) about a full stop, and they came out amazingly well. There was good, rich color, and the harsh shadows really didn't seem that significant. It was partially due to the scattered clouds, but most of the time there was direct sunlight. I still don't get it, but I'm not complaining.
This is one of those types of shots that can use the rather unsuitable lighting conditions of midday to still achive the desired effect.

NICE! This would be an excellent picture to use somewhere on the church. Perhaps a header on the website or some text on the right which is faded for a handout. I love the light through the leaves.

For a backlit situation, you got good colors. Nice tight DOF. I like it.

You know Vaughn William's Lark Ascending, yes? Of course you do. One look at this picture and I knew what piece I needed to be listening to. It is absolutely beautiful. I like the light coming through the center of the leaves. Chet was right, you should offer to use this for the church website (or walls). There is something simple and heavenly about it.

This would look really cool in a big frame on the wall! I took a shot similiar to this yesturday but your's came out much better. I like the simplicity in it. Not to many leaves and great DOF.

Wow, this is awesome. Everything about it is perfect, and it must be quite difficult to get this kind of shot right.
