So I just wrote an long entry, and forgot to update it before I clicked away from the page. Oh well.
I like today's image quite a bit better than yesterday's. Yesterday's image did get more positive feedback then I expected; it sometimes happens that way.
As you can tell, it is overcontrasted, but I felt it looked best that way. I also spent quite a bit of time tweaking and fine-tuning the post-processing, which was probably a waste of time; it almost always is. Good post-processing can make all the difference in the world, but don't get carried away in the tiny details. Yes, I'm talking to myself here. ;)
I also met Abe Savona, a fellow photoblogger, in person yesterday. We had a great time discussing cameras and photography over lunch. I'm looking forward to going shooting with him in the near future. We have relatively different photography styles, so it will be interesting to see how our photography skills develop. I am very eager to expand and experiment with my style, so you can probably expect a slight divergence off and on from my recent retraction back into nature photography.
Well, it's off to Tucson today. My plan is to have an image for Saturday. I haven't missed a day in 6 or 7 months, and I'm not in the mood to end my streak. ;) The high has been in the 90's the last day or two, so it is quite evident that summer is right around the corner...maybe a little too close. Though, I can't wait to go shoot sunrises in 80 degree weather. :)

Very good contrast of color in this one. The blues and greens go great together, and of course the hints of yellow and red accent it well. The twisting of the blades also makes for a neat effect.
Still an abstracty macro thingie though. I want to see landscapes!

I love the backlit edges. I was trying to capture backlit subjects yesterday, with "my" 7D, before I have to give it back :'(
I love working in manual mode! :D
Great shot Ryan.

The colors and lighting are really beautiful in this photo. I'd wish for just a bit more focal depth, though. Perhaps an inch or two in front and back.

I like the backlighting and the way the "spines" appear to glow.
