Another landscape shot, this time in black and white. I will be gone over the weekend, so my photoblog will be running on autopilot for a day or two. Headed up to the mountains to escape from the heat. Hopefully I'll come back with some good shots.
Update: Decided to stay home.

oh wow, that's beautiful. maybe I'm just a big space nerd, but it makes me think of a lunar landscape. it's incredible!! I love all the shadows in there. great contrast . . . there's a cold but majestic beauty. nicenicenice. :^)

with the black sky there is an "unknown" that is very intriging... very mystical. Great Detail!

Nice dark sky, good contrast lines, and nice shadows. I'm not sure why, but I find it hard to find the focus of this photo... my eye goes toward the bright part of the rock, but there's nothing to grab it there. No subject standing out. I think the fallen rocks distract too; too scattered. Again, the foreground is cut off; there's stuff there, but its not in the photo...
It's good.

We're sorry you couldn't join us this weekend. Come another time, perhaps for fall colors We enjoy your site very much and have passed it on to a number of friends and relatives. Thank you so much for the photos you sent, they are great. Kathie plans to have them framed while we are in SD.

Majestic lighting, I love how it highlights the beautiful texture of the mountain.

Powerful scary lighting - awesome post processing Ryan. You had temps hitting 45deg - wow! That's nasty hot even by West Aussie standards!
Has it ever been that hot there before?
