I think I like this photo for its lighting more than anything, and the lonely tree catching the first morning light.
Today it's Colorado Springs 13 hours to Phoenix.

Your shots from this trip have been excellent, Ryan. I really like this one. The sun flares, the lone tree and the overall color pallette are great.

The lonesome tree, standing, observing and absorbing every glimpse of the sunrise... it's a homely little tree, but it's been there longer than anyone and has witnessed many breathtaking sunsets and sunrises in such a georgeous setting. Very good photo... it speaks volumes.

I agree with you, the light really makes this shot. I am also amazed at trees like this...they seem to exist just to add flavor to these arid landscapes.

My first reaction is a super-technical WOW! The closeness in the foreground is impactful. The depth in this photo is wonderful. The lighting in the foreground-left is perfect. This scene captures the great American West grandeur very well. Fantastic shot, Ryan!
