My apologies for the cliché Independance Day shot, but I really couldn't find much else. I'm not as creative as you might think when it comes to things like this. Margaret also suggested that I say something important about our country. I'm still recovering from the November election, and have been staying relatively far away from politics since; and the guy I voted for even won. Still, politics is politics. Ick.
All I will say is that I'm very grateful to live in a country where (at least for the most part) freedom is respected and protected. Freedom is what this country was founded on and is of the utmost importance!
Here's a channels version (just a plain red channel, no fancy mixing). Must be viewed with the black theme!
Note: Still on autopilot. I should be back late Tuesday.

Although I am British, I have always thought the US flag is particularly photogenic.
Not sure why we do not celebrate July 4th as well! :-)

Lots of flags out there today, along with a healthy and, reflective dose of patriotism, that makes us all stop and think, no matter what country we live in. Meanwhile, have a good one! :-)

would I that more showed your care and devotion for your country. most of the people around here were too busy shooting off fireworks to remember WHY we use fireworks in the firstplace -- to represent to guns and cannons of our battle for freedom.
(and they're still up to it . . . which why I'm not sleeping. too many illgeal M 80s going on. grr. lol, I meant the people around here, not the founding fathers!!)
our nation was founded on the sweat and blood of a generation and culture of people who craved nothing more than to be free to express themselves, and there is no better way to celebrate that than by sharing your creativity with us, Ryan. thank you so much!
(and yes, you are QUITE creative, even if you don't want to admit it :^P )

Good, strong photo. I know how you feel about politics, I'm the same way. Keep up the great work, man!

Yeah being British (well Welsh but if i say it like this I can make the point that Wales i not part of England as many people think) I must admit that my heart sunk at the sight of that picture on the 4th of july, but when I read what you had to say about it I think I can say that is no more than what I would say if I was american, I think people I know go way over the top with the hole inderpendance day thing but yeah what you said was good:)
But then yeah I'm, just a grumpy Brit.
But yeah, As some one else has already said, we should celibrate it to. :P
But yeah I could go on all day, but have to work..
Nice pic by the way, love the colour and lighting.
