I took this in the Black Hills while visiting some of my friends there. I wish the wind wasn't blowing so much as my focus is far from ideal. A larger aperture would have helped, I'm sure. Photographing insects is almost always harder than it looks.
I have a few more ladybug shots, but I don't know whether to throw them in the lab or put them in here. I will probably show them here since I'm quickly running short of things to post. I haven't shot anything since I got back over a week and a half ago.

I am always amazed at the detail in a good macro. This is a very different talent from shooting londscapes or portraits. Nicely done.

For me its the distinct detail of the bug's red shell in stark contrast to the softer pale white and cream that does it for me.

Nice pic, and perfect title! It fits well...

As you say, a bigger aperture would have helped get the whole ladybug focused. In your shot, it seems the focus has been made on the insect's back so that it's face is unsharp...
But I agree with you, insect shots are very difficult.
Next time, try higher F-stops ! ;)

Great detail and color! I think it would have been nice to have the eyes of the ladybug in focus, rather than the back. . .but this is a view you don't often see.

Beautiful. The detail on the ladybugs back is excellent. I too might have liked the eyes to be in focus, but like this shot just as much as is.

Exellent composition, good use of the empty space.
