On the way home from church I saw this strange cloud in the sky. It looked like smoke from a fire and it was nearing sunset, so I thought this would be a good chance to shoot some with my 20D...and also to get something to actually post today (as I am running rather low). I had just enough time to change and drive out towards the fire and get off some shots before the sun set.
As for processing, just the obvious contrast/color adjustments. Cameras always seem to have a bland way of capturing clouds.

You would too if you only saw 18% grey! A very nice effect here, what with the setting sun and colour gradation in the sky. The silhouette is fantastic too.

Saw that one last night too but I was in the middle of moving so my camera was in a box ... still haven't found it. Great capture.

It does indeed look like a fire. It's a wonderous sight, though a bit ominous, too. This would be perfect for a nature mag.
