That's the great thing about notebooks...when it begins its life, it doesn't know whether it will be used for the next great idea, to solve all the world's problems, or just to help a college student get through calculus. In this case it's the latter, but today it's not calculus, it's differential equations, which is much worse. I have my first big diff eq exam today, so I thought this photo would be very fitting.
Margaret insisted that I post the color version as well. I like them both, but to me the b&w looks a little cleaner/simpler and slightly more worn.

Nice experiment with focuspoints......

Very nice. Hopefully you'll save a couple pages in the back to solve some of the world's problems after the differential equations test. =D

Wow - differential equations! Good closeup shot Ryan and love the selective focus.

I like this shot! Hmmm...not sure if I like the color or b&w better.
I looked up the definition of diff. equations and it made my head hurt just to read it. :-D

Creative shot and great comments on the purpose of notebooks. The two distinct focal points make the shot more interesting.
Be assured of my prayers as you tackle your diff equations test today. God gifted you with a good intellect - I'm proud of you for putting it to good use!

WOW I love the colour version - it seriously rocks!

I like your focal points (as has already been mentioned), especially the detail of the pages of the notebook. My preference is the b&w because there are less distractions from the two focused areas - it's more 'intense'.

i agree i like the way the pages are in focus right at the bottom left, and then the out of focus rings and pages takes your eye into the ring in focus in the middle. i prefer the b&w but i love the colour too. i think i would prefer the colour, if the white patch at the bottom right wasnt there, as its a little distracting, but isnt in the b&w.

I'm not sure what differential equations are, but this shot is cool! :)

It's funny how we can see beauty in ordinary things. Good luck on your exam.

Very nice. Often we go out and look for subjects when they are in front of our very eyes. Very nice use of dof.
