This was on a short hike up one of the mountains on Kauai. We obviously didn't go all the way, as it is a several hour trek (one way), and quite slippery due to the multitude of wet rocks. Kauai is a very wet island. In fact, its crater is the rainiest place on the planet!

By contrast, we did get a few sprinkles here in the valley last week, but neither us nor Sky Harbor (airport), where the official rainfall for phoenix is recorded, recieved any measurable rain, which means the official drought continues. (I bet you guys are tired of hearing about this, no?)

Well, no rain here in the desert, but at least I get to post nice green shots of Hawaii! I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

I like the interesting textures and shapes. Yes, part of the beauty of Kauai, even though it's hard to compete with the beautiful. powerful ocean.

Again, not a very interesting photograph... the thing that most catches my eye is the most out of focus-- that fern in the top center. And again, what's the subject here? What are you trying to show us? If you like the fern, get closer to it. Make it your subject. If you like the green contrasting against the brown path, show us more of the path! If you like the dark and light green and yellow, make that what it's about.

This just has too much noise for me. It all looks the same, and none of it strikes me as particularly interesting, but only because you didn't make it that way.

I'm sorry for being negative; I'm only doing it because I know you can take it, and I believe that honest criticism is the best way for improvement. All your shots are of course above-average, and you know when I see something exceptional, I will tell you loud and clear :-)
