This is an inverse of the actual image using curves in Camera Raw. I actually spent quite a bit of time tweaking it to achieve the desired results. I have previously enjoyed using curves to invert an image as it yields much more interesting results than simply inverting the image.
An example of this technique can be seen in this image. As you can see, the image is actually an inverse, but the highlights are still present. This effect is due to the shape of the curve peaking in two places instead of just one and thereby retaining the natural highlights while inverting the overall image.
In this image I wanted to achieve desired contrast with the flowers and leaves, but I also wanted to keep the soft background. Even as an inverse, the leaves are green. This is because the leaves are actually pink and the flowers white as can be seen in these photos of the same plant taken several years ago.

This one is stunning! I think it's funny to see these leaves green, it makes you wonder how you accomplished the effect, but your explanation says is all... Well done and a really good technique on this!
