Taken from a boat on a humpback whale-watching excursion in Hawaii this past year. I never thought about this photo in monochrome until recently, and I am actually quite pleased with the results.

Beautiful. Blurred water without looking blurry. Strong Contrast without washing out the clouds.

Thanks for the comment, Chet. ACR's new highlight "recovery" in CS3 I have to thank mostly for the clouds not being blown out. I'm sure the same effect can theoretically be achieved with curves, but Adobe Camera Raw makes it very easy...and very handy. Thanks again!
