This is the bowl of shells on the coffee table in our music room. This bowl was made in Hawaii. After it is fired in the kiln, it is placed in a pit with banana leaves and coconut husks, which produces the rainbow of color. This method is called "raku firing".

At the time of posting, this is also available as a wallpaper. It's been my wallpaper for about a week, and I'm very pleased.

I'm glad it's summer and you're posting more photos. I've done raku firing in college ceramics classes. I'm trying to remember what "junk" we used, but I know it wasn't banana peelings and coconut husks! (I'm guessing we used something more indigenous to Kansas.)
