"Horseshoe Bend"
General: Canon Rebel 2000
Technical: 17mm | ISO-100
Film: Fuji Sensia
Lens: EF 17-40mm f/4L USM

We stopped at Horseshoe Bend right south of Page, Arizona. It really is worth the 3/4 mile hike. The area that overlooks the river is positioned so that you can really see any of the canyon until you come right up on it, though it is quite large (larger than it appears in the photograph).

This was taken with slide film and converted to monochrome in photoshop. I was also trying out my new 2 stop graduated neutral density filter for the first time. Had I not used the grad ND filter, the sky would be completely blown out. Even as it is, I processed the sky with less contrast than the land.

That's really great. I love the strong reflection and tone varience on the water. A grad nd filter sounds like a great idea. When the sky is completly washed out its no good trying to bring down highlights.

Nice. I've ALWAYS wanted to photograph Horseshoe Bend. (And the rest of AZ as well). How cool to actually live out there. :)

Another awesome Az landscape. And film too - you crusty old traditionalist. :)

That is a staggering bit of river I must add - and marvellously captured.

Oh - I want to do that hike! Just love hiking, mountains and this photo amazing. It is great in b&w but it makes me wonder how it is in color.... is lake blue or brown like the lake in the Grand Canyon?
