General: 6:49 PM on 7/8/09 | Canon 5D Mark II
Technical: 1/15sec | f/11.0 | 33mm | ISO-100
Lens: EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
Exposure Mode: P (Program)
Exposure Bias: -1
Flash: No

I came upon this scene on the drive to Valdez. I rounded a corner, and all of the sudden, there it was.

I used a circular polarizer in addition to a graduated ND filter to even out the lighting, but it still needed a some gradients during post-processing.

Update: Although the saturation adjustments I applied were subtle, I do agree with ApoChromatic, the original did appear just a bit too saturated. The current photo has zero saturation applied. Any apparent increase in saturation is from minor contrast adjustments.

Not a lot to say about the composition, the choice of the foreground, ... it's excellent!

But I for me it's too saturated.

The composition is very strong indeed. The timing is perfect with the bright spot on the left, or is it dead grass?

I love this, the landscape is amazing. Ryan, get your photoblog updated. You are a worthy photographer. Don't shoot for the comments either, I really like your photos.. We're veteran photobloggers as well. If you are ever in my part of the country (Utah) I'll take you around to some interesting places to shoot! Nate
