Last week I went shooting with my cousin, Carrie, out at Lost Dutchman State Park, one of my favorite places to shoot here in the Valley. We didn't venture far into the desert, but we did go off the path a bit, which was definitely worth it.
For this shot I was planning to use my graduated ND filter (and did for some of them), but at f/11, the numerous scratches rendered it useless, so I opted to take two exposures and combine them. Not the most ideal (especially with handheld images), it works. Practically, the results are identical. Anyways, enjoy the image, and try not to get too dizzy!

Good composition - that two glows work very nicely.

I like the long shadows and the colour. The tilt was an interesting choice that probably let you get more in the frame than other ways of shooting it. I do wonder how it would look as a vertical, but the tilt does lead the eye from the horizon, along the shadows to the little cactus in front. Yeah, maybe that was the right choice.

Great composition. The light is also great. It even makes the cactus look soft.

Ordinarily I don't like images with angled perspectives but this one really works for me. Beautiful light.

There are many great elements here - for example, the unusually creative use of angle for a landscape, and the lighting, which appears soft and golden. But I think what really makes this shot very good is the tonality, and even more so the balance among the subjects - shadows, clouds, plant life, etc. It all works together into a very strong compositional balance. And rather than being just pulled into the sunset, I'm pulled back from it and into the foreground, which is a very pleasing and powerful effect.

excellent shot...i like the fact there's some foreground interest in the shot in the form of the brightly lit spiky cactus; that makes it for me.

Took a look through much of your archive. Quite the visual feast of many varied shots and locations. :) This is the photo I saw when I got here and the one that pulled me in to see more.
