This was taken last October up near Flagstaff. This is actually an HDR image, tone-mapped in Photomatix.
I'm sure each of you have your own opinion about HDR images, specifically photographs. Mine is this: if HDR technique is done correctly, it should not be immediately apparent that it is an HDR image. The photograph should simply be more tonally expansive, and the high dynamic range should contribute to the subtly of the tonality. HDR should not be a gimick. This is only my opinion about photographs in particular.
HDR as an art-form in and of itself is totally different. I do not have a problem with acute HDR styling, but it should be placed in a different class of art than photographs.
