"Are deserts supposed to be that green?", you ask? Well, no, but after record rainfalls, it is a sight to behold. You will be seeing several more of these "desert" photos in the next week or so.
I'm almost done with my new design. It's operable, but not quite polished, so I won't be releasing it until probably tomorrow...or the next day, depending on the complications that I run into and the time I have to work on it. I'm planning to go up for a third day of shooting the Superstitions today; perhaps a different area this time, or maybe I'll get a chance to hike further up, I don't know.

Nice one. I love the Southwest landscape. You've done it justice here. Glad you waited for the deep golden light to shoot this.

Agree that it's worthy of publication, but more like in a biology book about desert flora. I don't know, it just seems to have that 50's look to it. It doesn't seem "crisp" for some reason... maybe it needs more saturation? More contrasts to begin with?
Two criticisms:
One: the horizon is dead center, yet the sky is pretty boring above the little cloud whisps. Ansel Adams once said something to the effect of: decide what's more important -- the sky or the land -- and tilt your camera appropriately. For me, the centered horizon takes away the eye's focus.
Two: (sort of related) the foreground is very ambiguous in this photo -- the flowers up close are *there* but they're cut off. Are they important? If yes, then include them intently. If no, find somewhere else to stand so they're out of the picture.
Sorry for being so critical; it is a nice picture, I just don't think it's you're best.
