And so the new design is finally here. Whew!

Anyways, it feels good to be done with it. I can now put up all the photos I've been waiting so patiently to display. I'm sure there will be bugs in the new design, so if you come across one, do me a favor and please email me! The gallery sort of dissapeared. I feel there is really no need for it. I plan to use the archive page as sort of a gallery. In the near future I will impliment categories and more advanced sorting features.

If you'd like more info on the site, I suggest reading the about section.

As for this shot, I was experimenting around with my reflector. It works quite well for undesierable lighting conditions. I can't remember if this photo was taken with the diffuser or the reflector. I think it was the reflector. It does wonders to harsh or washed out lighting conditions. I burned the pedals in photoshop a bit to give them more color and contrast. I quite like the way this one turned out.

Did I mention that my 250GB came today? Yes, it's wonderful! It's a good thing too, because I filled up all three of my CF cards totalling 1.5Gigs on my hike this evening.

the picture is cool too, great lighting and colour.

btw, when you say you were using your reflector, or diffuser, do you mean on a flash? or just diffusing sunlight.

This is really rich. I love it, Ryan! Is this new site done with Typepad or something else? It's a nice look. Good job.

Thanks Abe,

This site is all original...from the coding to the design. :)

Phillip,

I don't have an external flash yet, so it's all done with existing sunlight. It was mid-morning so the lighting was pretty bad without the reflector.

This is what I was using...or at least similar; I don't think it's the exact one.

awesome!! :D LOVE the new design!! photo is amazing as well, but I am not totally sure about the focus. . . The center of the flower looks a little blurry, but that might just be my screen :P

great work Ryan!

Thanks Mark,

The focus is on the center stem of the flower, if that's what your asking. It's pretty sharp there when you zoom in full size, so it must be your screen. ;)

Check out the 1600x1200 wallpaper for a higher quality image.

I like the new design. It's very understated, putting all the emphasis on the photo. Very nicely done. The alternating comment thing is also kinda cool. I won't get into how much I hate pop-up windows ;-)

The photo today is an excellent macro -- the focus is something different, capturing the detail in the pollen rather than in the petals. Interesting.

I love this. Outstanding composition with the soft blurred background flower. I've been playing around with my new reflectors, too. Great tool. Did you get the 5-in-1?

Love the new site design, by the way.
